About Drain Cleanging Auckland
G’day, and thanks for taking the time to actually read an about page. Most people skim straight past these, so if you’re still here, I owe you a proper introduction.
I’m the owner of Auckland Drain Solutions, and if I’m honest, drains were never exactly the childhood dream. Nobody grows up wanting to be a drainlayer. But somewhere along the way, after a few years working alongside plumbers and drainage crews across the city, I realised I actually loved the work. There’s something satisfying about turning up to a house where the toilet’s been backing up for a week, the whole family’s stressed, and leaving two hours later with the problem properly sorted and everyone breathing easy again. That feeling never really got old, so I started this company to do more of it, my way.
My way means no dodgy shortcuts, no scare tactics, and no leaving a job “good enough for now.” If we’re under your house or in your backyard, we treat the place like it’s our own.
How We Got Started
This business started small, the way most good ones do, with a van, a drain snake, and a phone that I answered myself at all hours. Word spread through word of mouth in Grey Lynn and Mount Eden before it spread anywhere else, mostly because old villas in those suburbs have clay pipework that’s been quietly failing for decades and homeowners were sick of getting the runaround from contractors who’d patch a blockage without ever explaining what actually caused it.
We grew from there, suburb by suburb, across the isthmus and out toward the west and the shore, always the same way: do the work properly, explain things in plain English, and let the results speak for themselves. These days we’ve got a full crew of drainlayers, plumbers, and CCTV camera operators, but the core of how we operate hasn’t changed since that first van.
The Auckland Anniversary floods in early 2023 were a bit of a turning point for us, if I’m being honest. We were out pumping flooded properties and clearing blocked stormwater drains across the city for weeks, and it gave the whole team a level of hands-on experience with Auckland’s drainage network that you genuinely can’t get any other way. We came out the other side of that knowing this city’s pipes, soil, and stormwater quirks better than most.
Who We Are Today
We’re a locally owned and operated team, not a franchise, not a call centre passing your job on to whoever’s cheapest that week. Every drainlayer and plumber who turns up at your property is someone we’ve trained ourselves and trust completely, because your reputation with our customers is our reputation too.
We service homes and businesses right across greater Auckland, from character villas in Ponsonby and Devonport with pipework older than most of our staff, to newer builds out in Hobsonville and Flat Bush where the issues tend to be more about tree roots and stormwater than ageing infrastructure. Same honesty, same standard of work, wherever you are.
What We Actually Stand For
We don’t do the whole “we’re not like other companies” spiel just to say it. Here’s what that actually means day to day. We never show up without calling first if we’re running late. We never talk down to a homeowner who doesn’t know their gully trap from their downpipe, because why would you, that’s literally our job to know. We never recommend digging up your driveway if a camera inspection and a bit of hydro jetting will do the trick instead. And we never send you a bill that doesn’t match what we quoted, because surprises are for birthdays, not invoices.
Why It Matters To Us
At the end of the day, a blocked drain or a flooded section isn’t just an inconvenience, it’s stress in someone’s home or business, and often it hits at the worst possible time. We’ve built this company around taking that stress off your plate as fast and as properly as we can. That’s the whole job, really. Everything else, the vans, the cameras, the years of experience under Auckland’s older suburbs, is just what it takes to actually deliver on that.
If you’d like to know more about how we work or you’ve got a drain that needs sorting, give us a call. We’d genuinely rather have a five-minute chat and point you in the right direction than have you stuck wondering who to trust.
